STATE INDUSTRY SKILLS BOARD

Nine State Industry Skills Bodies have been declared by the State Minister. They are:
It is intended that the new Industry Skills Bodies will take a strategic focus upon Workforce Development in addition to Skills Formation and Training Advice, and be a major source of advice to the state government in conjunction with the State Strategic Plan, the Workforce Development Strategy and SA Works.
The Industry Skills Bodies will work across government portfolios and departments to improve coordination of the government´s efforts to build a strong and competitive workforce.

NATIONAL INDUSTRY SKILLS COUNCILS

The Australian VET sector has a network of ten National Industry Skills Councils. The councils have two key roles:
- providing accurate industry intelligence to the VET sector about current and future skill needs and training requirements, and
- supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality nationally recognised training products and services, including Training Packages.
The ten new National Industry Skills Councils are:
- Agrifood
- Community Services and Health
- Construction and Property Services
- Electro Comms and Energy Utilities
- Government and Community Safety
- Innovation and Business
- Manufacturing
- Resources and Infrastructure
- Services
- Transport and Logistics
They are expected to work cross-government to incorporate skill development into major national policy initiatives, enterprises and industry peak bodies.
